How To Transfer Your Social Media Accounts

Depending on your company and target market, MyDigiBrand may have created a variety of social media profiles for you, to help establish and maintain your online brand. Listed below are the different social media outlets, along with instructions on how to transfer those accounts to you.

Facebook Page

Facebook Pages are a page on Facebook that is designed solely for a business to communicate with Facebook users. Every Facebook Page is assigned to one or more individual, registered Facebook users. Therefore, you must have an active, individual Facebook profile to have your Facebook Page assigned to you. To assign your Facebook Page to yourself, follow these steps:

1. Login to Facebook (facebook.com);
2. Add Jerry Roxas as a friend (facebook.com/jerryroxas) NOTE: You must be my friend for me to add you as an administrator to your Facebook Page;
3. Go to your Facebook Page (i.e. facebook.com/mydigitalbrand);
4. On your Facebook Page, click the Like button; and
5. Send a Facebook message to Jerry Roxas requesting that I add you as an Admin to your Facebook Page.

Once you have added me as a friend on Facebook and liked your Facebook page, I will be able to add you as an administrator to your Facebook page.

Twitter

Twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows you to broadcast short messages, pictures, links and videos to the world. To assign your Twitter account to yourself; follow these steps:

1. Login to Twitter (twitter.com);
   1. Username: Your social media handle provided to you by MyDigiBrand
   2. Password: The password that was provided to you by MyDigiBrand
2. In the upper right hand corner, click on the sprocket;
3. In the drop down menu that appears, select on the ‘edit profile’ option;
4. On the left hand side bar menu, click on ‘account’
5. Under your account information, change the email address to the email address you want to transfer the account to;
6. At the bottom of the screen, click on the ‘save changes’ button;
7. A window will appear asking you to re-enter your password to save the changes. Enter your password and click on the ‘save changes’ button;
8. A verification email will be sent to the email address you entered. In the verification email, click on the verification link that was provided; and
9. Login to Twitter to verify your change (see Step 1 above). Your Twitter account has now been transferred to your new email address.

Instagram

Instagram is a photo/video blogging service that allows you to broadcast photos/videos and short messages to the world. To assign your Instagram account to yourself; follow these steps:

1. Login to Instagram (instagram.com);
   1. Username: Your social media handle provided to you by MyDigiBrand
   2. Password: The password provided to you by MyDigiBrand
2. In the upper right hand corner, click on your username;
3. A drop down menu will appear. From this dropdown menu, click on the ‘edit profile’ option;
4. An Edit Profile screen will appear. If the Edit Profile screen does not appear, click on the ‘edit profile’ link on the left hand side bar menu;
5. Change the email address to the email address you want to transfer the account to;
6. Click on the ‘submit’ button at the bottom of the page. A message will appear at the top of the screen stating you have successfully updated your profile; and
7. On the left hand side bar menu, click on the ‘log out’ option. Your Instagram account has now been transferred to your new email address.

Pinterest

Pinterest is a photo micro-blogging service that allows you to ‘pin’ existing photos, as well as upload and share your own photos, with the world. To assign your Pinterest account to yourself, follow these steps:

1. Login to Pinterest (pinterest.com);
2. On the home screen, click on the link that says ‘log in now’;
   1. Email: Your social media email that was provided to you by MyDigiBrand
   2. Password: The password provided to you by MyDigiBrand
3. In the upper right hand corner, click on your social media handle.
4. A drop down menu will appear. From this dropdown menu, click on the ‘settings’ option;
5. An ‘account settings’ screen will appear. Change your email address to the email address you want to transfer the account to;
6. Click on the ‘save settings’ button at the bottom of the page. A message will appear at the top of the screen reminding you to verify the email change;
7. A verification email will be sent to the email address you entered. In the verification email, click on the confirm email link that was provided; and
8. Login to Pinterest to verify your change (see Step 1 above, but this time use the email address that you transferred your account to). Your Instagram account has now been transferred to your new email address.

WordPress

WordPress is a leading blog site that allows you to post a multitude of content (i.e. articles, pictures, videos, etc.) for the world to see, follow and comment back. To assign your WordPress account to yourself, please follow these steps:

1. Login to WordPress (wordpress.com);
   1. Username: Your social media handle provided to you by MyDigiBrand
   2. Password: The password provided to you by MyDigiBrand
2. Mouse over the icon in the very upper right hand corner;
3. A drop down menu will appear. From the dropdown menu, click on the ‘settings’ option;
4. A ‘my account’ page will appear. Change your email address to the email address you want to transfer the account to;
5. Click on the ‘save changes’ button at the bottom of the page. A message will appear beneath your new email address reminding you to verify the email change;
6. A verification email will be sent to the email address you entered. In the verification email, click on the confirm email link that was provided; and
7. Login to WordPress to verify your change (see Step 1 above). Your WordPress account has now been transferred to your new email address.

Tumblr

Tumblr is a leading blog site that allows you to post a multitude of content (i.e. articles, pictures, videos, etc.) for the world to see, follow and comment back. To assign your Tumblr account to yourself, please follow these steps:

1. Login to Tumblr (tumblr.com);
   1. On the home page, click on the ‘log in to your dashboard’ link below the ‘signup’ button;
   2. Email: Your social media email that was provided to you by MyDigiBrand
   3. Password: The password provided to you by MyDigiBrand
2. At the top of the screen, click on the ‘sprocket’ icon;
3. An ‘account’ page will appear. Change your email address to the email address you want to transfer the account to;
4. Enter the password provided to you by MyDigiBrand to confirm your change;
5. Click on the ‘save’ button at the bottom of the page. A message will appear at the top of the next page reminding you to verify the email change;
6. A verification email will be sent to the email address you entered. In the verification email, click on the confirm email link that was provided. Your Tumblr account has now been transferred to your new email address.

Google+ Page

Google+ is Google’s social media network. Google+ allows you to post a multitude of content (i.e. articles, pictures, videos, etc.) for the world to see, follow and comment back.   If you have a physical business address, Google+ also allows you to verify and list your business in their directory. If MyDigiBrand created a Google+ page for you, you MUST have a Google account (i.e. Gmail address) to manage your Google+ page.

To take over management of your Google+ page, please provide MyDigiBrand with a valid Gmail address. MyDigiBrand will then add you as a manager to the Google+ page that was created on your behalf. Once added, you will receive a verification email to the Gmail address provided. Simply click on the link provided in the email. You will then be able to manage your Google+ page.

YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing service owned by Google. If MyDigiBrand created a YouTube channel for you, then either you provided us with a valid Gmail address, or we created a Gmail address on your behalf. To take over management of your YouTube channel, simply login to the Gmail account that was used to create it.

Your YouTube channel may also be tied to your Google+ page. In this instance, if we have granted you administrator rights to your Google+ page, then you will have automatically been granted administrative rights to your YouTube channel.

Yelp

Yelp is one of the most popular online business rating systems in the U.S. It allows users to read reviews and ratings of businesses before they do business with them. According to studies, 85% of consumers with access to the Internet use the Internet to find and research local businesses. Since Yelp is consumer based, it allows consumers to post reviews about your business even if you don’t have a Yelp account.

As part of your social media strategy, MyDigiBrand may have created a business Yelp account on your behalf. Having a business Yelp account gives you better control over your Yelp presence, allowing you to provide more content, post images that you approve of, and offer specials to Yelp users.

To assign your Yelp account to yourself, please follow these steps:

1. Login to Yelp (https://biz.yelp.com/login);
   1. Enter the email address provided to you by MyDigiBrand;
   2. Enter the password provided to you by MyDigiBrand; and
   3. Click on the ‘Log In’ button.
2. On the top of the screen, click on the ‘Account Settings’ menu option.
3. Now click on the ‘edit’ link besides the ‘Business Account Information’ heading.
4. Enter the email address you want to be associated with your Yelp account, and then click on the ‘Save’ button.
